Setting up Service Scheduler

To use Service Scheduler with JSM, you need to decide which projects it is available on and what the appointment slots durations will be.

These configurations are found in Service Scheduler's administration panel found in the Jira Apps page.

Appointment slot durations

Selecting Global Configuration will allow you to change the slot duration.

Service Scheduler global settings

The slot durations are defined in minutes and can range from 5 to 120 minutes.

Available slots will be created in blocks of the specified duration. Changing this setting will not retroactively change the slot durations for existing appointments or available slots.

Updates to the agent's Google Calendar can cause available slots to be re-created with the latest duration. It is best to be certain of the appointment durations before syncing calendars.

Controlling Service Scheduler access within projects

To make Service Scheduler available within a project, go to Project Configuration and check enable for the desired project or projects.

An enabled project will allow service availabilities to be synced from the agents' calendars, and will make the appointment view available in the JSM/Jira issue view.

In order to allow customers to book appointment slots from the service portal, enable visible in portal. Disabling visible in portal will allow the calendar integration to continue to work, but prevent customers from booking appointments.

The Visible in portal option will not be available on projects not of type Service management.

Controlling minimum and maximum lead time

To adjust the lead times for appointments scheduled within a project, go to Scheduling Configuration

Minimum lead time limits the window of time between the moment the appointment is booked and when it can occur. This protects agents from being blind-sided by last-minute appointments and not having time to prepare for their meeting.

Maximum lead time sets an upper limit on how far into the future and appointment can be booked.

Restricting appointment scheduling by portal Request Type

In order to control which request portal request types display the appointment scheduler, navigate to the project's Project Settings page and find the Service Scheduler tab. From here click on Request Types option. Select the request types that will display the appointment scheduler.
